An Overview of the Franklin Ambassador Program

We will promote Franklin's 300th Anniversary worldwide through the assistance of "Franklin Ambassadors" recruited for overseas assignment in approximately 80 world capitals. Our recruiting effort will be primarily pointed toward collegians who are nearing graduation or will have recently graduated. The application deadline is 31 December 2004 with selections by February 2005. After selection, on-line training will begin and continue until June. There will be subsequent training in Eugene, Oregon during the summer of 2005.

After completion of all training requirements, Ambassadors are expected to arrive at their destination in September. From October until January 17, 2006, Ambassadors will coordinate Celebration activities with the American Embassy, the American Chamber of Commerce, the foreign diplomatic corps, the education community and key officials within the host government,

A prime responsibility will be to ensure wide publicity by way of radio, television and the print media
